Bijay has a long track record in humanitarian and development work, particularly in DRR. He has considerable expertise in leading and managing civil society organisations and networks, gained through hands-on experience working in Africa, Europe, South Asia & South East Asia.
Bijay is a strong advocate of shifting power from the international system to community led capacities, preparedness and response facilitated by the local organisations. He is also a passionate promoter of Human Rights and ‘people power’, both in policy advocacy and implementation.

Role of the Executive Director
The Executive Director has responsibilities, delegated by the Board of Trustees, for the overall development, leadership and management of GNDR under the guidance of the Global Board.
The role serves as the head of the GNDR Secretariat (which includes the office in London and all Regional/operational offices) with overall responsibility for all resources and for the management, safety and wellbeing of the Secretariat staff, consultants, advisors, interns and volunteers whilst deployed on GNDR business.
The Executive Director reports to the Chair of the Trustees and the Chair of the Global Board. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring, alongside the Company Secretary, that the Global Board and Trustees receive all the information they require. S/he is responsible for ensuring the decisions of the Global Board and Trustees, and the outworking of the strategy are carried out effectively.
