Capacity for Disaster Reduction Initiative
The Capacity for Disaster Reduction Initiative (CADRI) is a global partnership led by UN agencies that helps countries reduce disaster and climate risks through providing access to a unique pool of multidisciplinary expertise in various socio-economic sectors. By working with UN development partners, GNDR members have the opportunity to directly influence the development of national DRR and resilience policies in their country.

The Climate Action Network brings together more than 1,500 civil society organisations in over 130 countries driving action to fight the climate crisis. CAN convenes and coordinates civil society at the UN climate talks and other international fora. By working with CAN, GNDR is able to influence the ongoing climate discussions and advocate for increased attention towards climate adaptation and loss and damage.

CONCORD is the European Confederation of Relief and Development NGOs, and the main interlocutor with the EU institutions on development policy. We work with CONCORD to try and influence EU development policies to integrate resilience and adopt a risk-informed approach to development.
Visit siteGlobal Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery
The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) helps developing countries better understand and reduce their vulnerability to natural hazards and climate change. GFDRR is a grant-funding mechanism, managed by the World Bank, that supports disaster risk management projects worldwide. GNDR is an observer member of its Consultative Group, the facility’s primary decision-making and advisory body: in this role, we provide advice on how to increase the effectiveness of its work by involving local actors and CSOs.

The Risk-informed Early Action Partnership (REAP) brings together stakeholders across the climate, humanitarian and development communities with the aim of making 1 billion people safer from disaster by 2025. By being part of REAP, we aim to contribute local perspectives on how this ambitious target can be achieved. We see this partnership as instrumental to achieve the overall vision of our strategy.

The Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM) is a group that brings together civil society groups and the private sector, under the aegis of UNDRR. Together we advocate for risk-informed development and an all-of-society approach to resilience building. Increased collaboration with UNDRR through SEM has resulted in a more systematic inclusion of CSOs and other non-governmental actors in the work of this UN agency.
