About URIDU
URIDU is a German NGO that provides illiterate rural women with vital knowledge. URIDU develops and pioneers accessible audio learning in the global south. They do it by combining relevant, localised expert audio content with easily usable hardware and software.
URIDU has shown that educating marginalised communities using audio is a feasible endeavor that yields excellent results. They worked in pilot projects in Tanzania, Uganda, the Congo and Rwanda. In 2019 URIDU launched Audiopedia, a platform that provides all their content and technology in an open source format. Audiopedia is an app (www.audiopedia.app), a crowd-impact project (audiopedia.org) and a content platform ( www.audiopedia.io ). Audiopedia.io enables health workers, NGOs and individuals to find, listen to, download, share and embed all audio content.
