8th-9th July 2015 | London

A two-day workshop with the aims of developing the method and the use of the outputs, and to consider wider dissemination of the learning from the work carried out.

  • Participants: A wide range of academics, practitioners and development professionals
  • Place: The Foundry (17 Oval Way, London, SE11 5RR)
  • Organisers: GNDR

Views from the Frontline, Action at the Frontline and Frontline are programmes of work conducted by GNDR member organisations over a period of 6 years, during which they have consulted over 100,000 individual respondents in communities in over 90 countries on issues relating to disaster risk reduction and resilience. Information has been analysed and applied in global, regional, national and local contexts. As the most recent form of the programme, Frontline, reaches the conclusion of a substantial pilot programme we wish to expose it to critical reflection, consider what the relevance and application of the method are, how the outputs are understood and what further development would be appropriate. The workshop draws together academics and practitioners to tackle these questions. A particular resource is a substantial report just completed of the pilot work in Central America.

The overall goals are to

  • Expose actions we have taken to critical reflection
  • Propose on the basis of this reflection the further development and application of the programme
  • To successfully work together as researchers and practitioners, respecting each others’ perspectives

Outcomes will be agreed next steps to

  • Develop the method
  • Develop the use of the outputs
  • To consider wider dissemination of the learning from the work Agenda
