El libro plantea medidas concretas y planes reales, y está organizado en tres capítulos principales con recomendaciones para personas con discapacidad, sus familiares y/o cuidadores, para gobiernos locales, y para gobiernos nacionales, respectivamente. El fin último de este manual es que la igualdad ante los desastres se haga realidad y deje de ser un mero deseo y que las labores y actividades de todas aquellas personas que trabajan en la gestión del riesgo de desastres contribuyan a lograr un mundo inclusivo.

Description

This report is a compendium of good practices from South and South-East Asia that illustrate a win-win situation by highlighting in its first section the benefits and the need for the inclusion and active participation of persons with disabilities in disaster risk management. The second section presents real life examples of how to facilitate this participation by i) enabling persons with disabilities to take up active roles as DRM actors; ii) engaging persons with disabilities in community-based DRM efforts, and iii) extending the leverage through joint advocacy efforts towards inclusive DRM. In the third section, the report the report provides fifteen practical recommendations that are based on good practices and that run in support of the enabling, engagement, and extension of leverage for the participation of men, women and children living with a disability in disaster risk management.
