GNDR in partnership with RET international held on 23 and 24 April, a regional workshop attended by 35 Civil Society Organisations in Panama City to identify the success factors of institutionalisation of a sustainable CBDRM.

On 23 and 24 April, 35 Civil Society Organisations came together in the Holliday Inn Express in Panama City to attend the best-ranked CBDRM initiative in the Latin America & Caribbean region. A total of 23 case studies from 13 countries were presented during the workshop, providing the main inputs for the discussion about success factors for sustainability and institutionalisation. Among the key success factors for sustainability were communitarian engagement and mechanisms for participatory collaboration.

For institutionalisation, local leadership and multi-stakeholder involvement were some of the key themes identified in the workshop. The event was inaugurated by UNISDR Programme Management Officer Jennifer Guralnick, OFDA Country Consultant Manuel Santana, and Remié Manaert, Executive Director of RET International for the region.
