From the eyes of a beholder: where vulnerabilities surrendered to community wills

Remoteness, lack of cellular network, no local doctor and no education after 6th grade - these factors are no hindrance for CBDRM to be effective in a local community, Samuel Peter from Habitat for Humanity India reports. He recently visited the small Philippenean community of San Ildefonso as a part of a CBDRM exchange program between India and the Philippines.

Robert Glasser addresses GNDR: civil society stronger when we work together

The UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, Robert Glasser addressed all GNDR members via video at their Global Summit held in Bangkok (April 19th-21st). Mr Glasser reminded us that civil society is stronger when working together and highlighted the essential roles ahead to be played by civil society during the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR).

What happened in Bangkok at the Summit?

19th-21st April 2016 | Global Network - Local Action  With more than 120 participants, GNDR's global gathering in Bangkok has been a success. Interactive, fast paced, engaging and fun, the members have met colleagues from more than 70 countries, to exchange views, explore regional priorities and share their committments towards the GNDR strategy 2016-2020 that was launched on the first day.

Frontline National Workshop, Cambodia

12th February 2016 | Workshop  A 1-day national workshop in Phnom Penh to present the results of the implementation of Frontline in Cambodia to a range of representatives from DRR actors in the country.  Hosted by Save the Earth Cambodia, its primary aims were to share the key research findings from the Frontline programme about the 14 participating villages in Cambodia and to seek feedback, cooperation, commitment and partnering opportunities between the participant stakeholders.
