Civil Society IMPACT DRR

Civil Society IMPACT DRR was a USAID/OFDA Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Regional funded project coordinated by the GNDR Secretariat and implemented by GNDR members in the LAC region. It aimed to build collaboration capacities among networks in the LAC region in order to enhance the ability of civil society organisations to contribute to the impact of the Sendai Framework for DRR at the community level.

2017 Regional workshop - Caribbean

2017| Regional Caribbean workshop  The workshop was an opportunity to introduce GNDR's new regional governance structure and to promote the benefits of sharing knowledge and best practices at region level. Participants are coming from all over the LAC region. Organised by GNDR's Regional Development Coordinator in LAC, Mave Bastias, the subregional workshop aimed at identifying appropriate actions for our members to work together in order to enhance their disaster management and advocacy capacity.

Regional Assistant Latin America & Caribbean [CLOSED]

[This position closed on October 19th, 2017] GNDR is currently seeking an energetic, proactive and resourceful professional for the role of Regional Assistant Latin America & Caribbean. The candidate will be based in Chile region and assist or lead in a variety of tasks designed tosupport the Regional Development Coordinator, who is responsible for the coordination and implementation of GNDR’s work plans within Latin America & the Caribbean. This is a full-time position.

Latin America position paper for COP21

GNDR members from Latin America, passionate about climate change, have formed a working group to jointly develop a position paper on climate change and resilience ahead of the COP21 in December. This paper provides a regional perspective on the ongoing negotiations of a climate change agreement and puts forward 5 recommendations for the COP21. CENAIS (Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Sismológicas), Cuba

The GNDR member, Fernando Guasch Hechavarria, celebrates the IDDR2015, on behalf of CENAIS, presenting two conferences. The first at the Cuban Association for the United Nations, on Seismic Risk Management in Cuba; the second at the Cuban Geological Society, on Contemporary Disaster Studies and the Challenges of post-2015 Disaster Risk Reduction.
