More deaths in Chitral, Pakistan from floods

Channel 24 (Pakistan)

Pakistani member Syed Harir from JAD Foundation reported this week that floods have completely devastated a village in the extreme south of the mountainous region of Chitral. We reported similar floods and effects last year.

The reports, that can be downloaded below, describe how the lives and properties of over 160 families, including 1280 children, women and old aged people in the village of Shogor are at a likely high risk of flooding and river erosion.

Flash floods occurring from 2 to 3 July killed at least 33 people in northern Pakistan. Dozens of homes in the village of Ursoon in Chitral were damaged. The remote village had received no evacuation warning, with roads to it damaged by the floods. (source AFP, 4 Jul 2016)

Since 9 March 2016, 293 people have been killed, and 331 injured across Pakistan due to heavy rains and severe weather events. (source OCHA, 4 Jul 2016)
