Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is a non-profit organisation committed to sustainable socio-economic development, conservation of natural resources, use of clean energy and protection of the environment through research and the implementation of innovative programmes.

The organisation has received the Energy Globe National Award 2018 for its Eco village project in Banishanta Union of Dacope Upazila in Bangladesh’s Khulna district. Created in 2015, the initiative promotes environmental protection by providing safe drinking water, tackling riverbank erosion and increasing accessibility to electricity, among other projects. BEDS works in enhancing the overall livelihood of the communities in the region as well as raising awareness of the Sundarbans coastal community’s need to protect their mangrove ecosystem.
